Department of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management
You will be part of an environment engaged in research, education, and collaboration with a focus on the management and governance of existing outdoor spaces, mainly in urban settings.
About the position
We are looking for a researcher in governance and management of landscapes with a focus on biodiversity to join the subject group Landscape Governance and Management (LGM). The subject for this position is in the processes of governance and management of landscapes, including forests, from theory development to knowledge about practical management, with specific emphasis on biodiversity.
The new researcher is expected to contribute to ongoing research projects on management for biodiversity and stormwater management locally, nationally, and internationally, and to actively secure funding for new projects. A central part of the position is educational responsibilities and related teaching, mainly in the BSc programs Forest & Landscape and Landscape Engineering, but also in various MSc programs.
The position requires collaboration with colleagues in the subject group, at the department as well as in various national and international settings. The work includes the use of social science approaches, primarily qualitative methods such as surveys, workshops, and interviews, involving stakeholders such as landscape planners, managers, and various user groups.
Your profile
Required qualifications are:
- a PhD in a subject bringing governance perspectives to landscape and forest
- Experience from conducting and publishing research with a focus on governance and management of landscapes connected to biodiversity
- Experience from working with research independently, in collaborations, and in international contexts
- Experience from working with social science research methods such as surveys, workshops, and interviews
- Experience from teaching in relation to landscape governance and management
- Courses completed in higher education training
- Documented ability to communicate in written and spoken English
Meritorious qualifications are:
- Experience from course responsibility or program responsibility in higher education
- Ability to communicate research with both academic and broader audiences
- Experience from practice related to forestry and/or landscape
About us
At the Department of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management (LAPF), there are around 90 employees engaged in research, education, and environmental monitoring related to the planning, design, management, and vegetation of landscapes in urban and rural environments, in Sweden and internationally. The subject group Landscape Governance and Management (LGM) has a specific focus on how the processes of governance and management can lead to maintained and increased qualities, such as for different values and user groups.
